    As director and founder of Studio Johnston, Conrad’s track record speaks for itself. His design philosophy is based on people, narrative and place. His aesthetic is a balance of bold design, refined details and earthy material choices. Conrad’s vision integrates the many elements of architecture - light, landscape, form and spatial quality – into a cohesive whole that’s much more than the sum of its parts. 

  • Stefanie Robinson Director

    M.Arch (UC)

    Stefanie is a skilled all-rounder with a speciality in education environments. Working across all studio projects from master planning to private residences, her superpowers are construction details and drawings, and DA documentation. Recent projects include luxury apartments in Clovelly, homes in Queens Park and Rose Bay and our competition-winning design for 191 apartments in Alexandria called Amara. Out of the studio, Stefanie’s interests include pasta making, painting, lawn bowls and gardening.        

  • Matthew Mar Senior Associate

    Matthew has worked on a diverse range of projects and enjoys collaborating with team and client to conceptualise, resolve designs and deliver projects through construction. He sees buildings as a social celebration of thought, space and people.

    Recent projects include Royale - Luxury Residences at Randwick as well as other Multi-unit and Mixed Use developments in the Studio. Other notable projects he has had the opportunity to deliver in the past include; The Mint – Historic Houses Trust, The West Hotel – Hilton Curio, The Hub – Macquarie Bank

    When not behind the desk, Matthew enjoys what the earth has to offer from the garden to the sea, on the odd occasion when out fishing early morning in the national park.

  • Kate Pereira Studio Director

    B.ScArch (USYD)

    An experienced project manager, Kate combines her love of design with a near obsession for organising processes to oversee the everyday operations at Studio Johnston, including contract administration, HR and marketing. Out of the studio you will find her with her nose in a book or planning her next travel adventure. 

  • James Cloutier Architect

    James has an aptitude for integrating complex details into thoughtful design. With experience in high-end residential and multi-residential projects in Sydney & Byron Bay James is known for his meticulous approach, ensuring every project is crafted with precision and care. Having lived in Africa, Korea, Rome & Fiji has given James a global perspective and a unique ability to adapt designs to different cultural and environmental contexts.

    Outside of architecture, James enjoys surfing, camping, and honing his photography skills.

  • Antoine Portier Architect

    Antoine joined us as a graduate with heritage experience and the Brian Patrick Keirnan Prize Student Award from the AIA. Recent projects include design schematics and documentation for multi-residential projects in Lewisham and South Coogee. Outside the studio, Antione is something of a renaissance man: a keen bushwalker and frequenter of art galleries. 

  • Hanya Hoang Designer

    M.Arch (USYD), B.Envs (UoM)

    Hanya joined us as a recent graduate, having previously worked on commercial projects within the educational and healthcare sectors. Growing up in Russia with Vietnamese heritage, she brings a unique blend of cultural perspectives and professional experiences to her work.

    Hanya finds her inspiration in nature; outside of work, she can be found either on a hike or enjoying a book with an iced latte by the beach.

  • Sakshi Designer

    Sakshi has worked on residential architecture projects in India and joined us as a designer after graduating from USYD. With a deep love for details and a passion for human-centric design, she is committed to crafting spaces that reflect kindness toward nature and humanity. Thoughtful and curious, Sakshi believes in design that tells a story and connects with people on an emotional level.

    When she’s not immersed in architecture, she enjoys painting, drawing mandalas, lifting weights, exploring new coffee places, and adoring sunsets.

  • Rasa Esfahani Architectural Assistant

    B.Des.Arch(Hons)/M.Arch (USYD)-current

    Rasa joined us as a Student from the University of Sydney with a desire to learn more about the practice of architecture. His previous work experience in natural stone detailing has given him a taste of understanding client relations and working towards a desirable outcome. During his studies, he looks to draw inspiration from visual arts and how other cultures have developed their architectural styles over time.

    Out of office, he enjoys a walk with his dog Shylah, and hyper-fixating on new creative outlets (with no previous experience).

  • Stefania Reynolds Director

    Visual artist, project director and interior designer, Stefania has studied art and architecture in Greece, France, the UK and Australia, receiving her honours from Bath University and her Masters of Architecture from the UNSW. With an eye for detail, she has a knack for combining modern and traditional design elements to create unique designs. She works across different scales, from bespoke homes to multi-residential apartments, workplaces and hotels.
    Stefania is dedicated to creating spaces that are both aesthetic and functional, and she is always looking for new ways to create innovative and sustainable designs.

  • Alan Powell Project Director & Quality Manager

    Working across a range of building typologies, from high-rise urban developments to public projects and bespoke homes, Alan is an experienced conceptual designer and project manager. Key projects include the award-winning Waranara Early Learning Centre at Green Square, the Cook Park Amenities in Rockdale, and in development Midtown Macquarie Park C3. Outside of work Alan heads for the bush - to mountain bike, camp or ‘forest bathe’ with his family.

  • Prudence Duncan Associate

    Prudence is a registered architect with over 10 years experience working in both Sydney and London. Working across a range of scales, she is drawn to the problem solving nature of multi-residential projects and the more personal and bespoke detailing of houses. Key projects include Randwick Hotel, Coffs Harbour Affordable Housing and high-end houses in Balmain and Canberra. Out of the studio, Prudence can be found at the beach with a good book or at the pub with friends.

  • Chun Suh Senior Architect

    With 17 years in the field, Chun is a team-oriented architect focused on turning ideas into reality. Before joining us, he spent 7 years at Mathieson Architects, leading multi-residential and commercial projects. Passionate about knowledge-sharing, he believes great architecture is a team effort.

    Outside work, Chun enjoys kid-led adventures, crafting (with mixed results), and refereeing sibling debates. A die-hard sports fan, he always finds time for a game—or at least the highlights.

  • Elkie Slater Architect & Interior Designer

    Elkie has worked in Melbourne and Sydney with experience spanning luxury homes and high-rise towers in Architecture and refined interior design. She has a keen eye for detail, and a desire to create spaces that are as joyous and nourishing as they are pragmatic. Harnessing contrasting materials and forms to layer complexity and depth into design.

    Influenced by fashion and art; in her spare time she frequents wine bars, galleries and spends time by the sea.

  • Brandon Pais Architect

    Brandon joined Studio Johnston with experience in mixed-use and multi-residential projects. He applies both a critical lens and design sensibility to create aspirational yet buildable outcomes. Recently, Brandon has worked on projects of varying scales, from a multi-residential development in Brighton to a bespoke set of luxury apartments in Cammeray.

    When not obsessing over Architecture, Brandon is … obsessing over Architecture, partaking in Design Competitions, designing installations for Vivid and scrutinizing every brick he passes.

  • Oliver Guan Designer

    M.Arch (USYD), B.Des.Arch (Hons)

    Recently graduated, Oliver has an interest in sustainability, technological advancements and cohabitation. Recent projects include single dwellings and multi-residential projects. Outside of work, he enjoys photography, exploring nature and the restaurants of Sydney.

  • Will Badaoui Designer

    M.Arch (USYD), B.Des.Arch (UTS)

    Will recently graduated from the University of Sydney, with a keen interest in public and community led projects - he was a student category finalist for the NSW Pattern Book Design Competition.

     He has previously worked for a model making studio and enjoys the hands-on nature of fabrication and bringing materials together. 

     Outside of practice, Will enjoys lino printing and is an avid gardener - often pinching plant cuttings from friends.

  • Chris Stelzer Architectural Assistant

    B.Des.Arch (USYD)-current

    Chris is completing his post graduate degree at the University of Sydney. His architecture studies have taken him abroad to Bangladesh and the Philippines on humanitarian trips as well as to Rome, exploring its historical layers. During his time at Studio Johnston he has worked on multi-residential housing across all stages. Chris' time outside the office typically gets divided between the great outdoors and an interesting (non-fiction) book
