Surry Hills Hotel
A boutique hotel of 121 rooms, in a former warehouse in Sydneys Surry Hills. Conceived as an urban travellers rest within the cultural precinct around Paramount House.
The design repurposed heritage items of the old mercantile building and inserts a sculptural new 7-storey hotel, with ground-level retail activating its long laneway, and dramatic lobby volume opening up to Harmony Park.
Breathing life and daylight into the rooms are two landscaped courtyard/lightwells, carved out of the new building. The sculptural new building will complement the industrial fabric of this former rag-trade district. Its form and detailing is a fitting response to the tight laneway conditions, providing privacy to guests and residents.
